RAPPER and Haiti native Wyclef Jean is considering a run for president of his homeland!

His Yéle Haiti Foundation released a statement indicating the performer is seriously weighing a bid as support continues to grow around him. Wyclef has raised awareness of their country since the January earthquake and co-hosted the “Hope for Haiti Now” event that helped raise much-needed funds for the tiny nation.

“Wyclef’s commitment to his homeland and its youth is boundless, and he will remain its greatest supporter regardless of whether he is part of the government moving forward,” read the statement.

“At this time, Wyclef Jean has not announced his intent to run for Haitian president. If and when a decision is made, media will be alerted immediately.”

But a Canadian newspaper says a “source close to the government” revealed that Wyclef is simply waiting for the relevant paperwork to be processed.

Elections to replace current present Rene Praval are scheduled for November 28.

Do you think the singer is an appropriate choice for a world leader?
