LOOKS like someone went a little overboard on Photoshop.

The latest in the series of Sex and the City 2 promotional posters was released on Friday, featuring all four protagonists for the first time. Unfortunately, the blogosphere was quick to point out how plastic the aging actresses looked on the image, with Kim Cattrall, 53, and Sarah Jessica Parker, 45, receiving the biggest complaints.

An editorial in the New York Daily News even said the actresses appeared to have “died and gone to Photoshop heaven”. They also note that the women look like they have travelled back in time and labelled SJP “virtually unrecognisable”.

“Kim Cattrall takes us right back to her ‘Mannequin’ (1987) days, while 45-year-old Kristen Davis and the slightly younger Cynthia Nixon (44) hark back to their first season faces on the show,” said writer Soraya Roberts.

In a poll, asking “who is the biggest Photoshop disaster?”, The Huffington Post revealed that SJP received a whopping 47 per cent of votes while Kim came at a close second with 43 per cent.

Should the over-enthusiastic big wigs at HBO and New Line Cinema have considered that the ladies are already beautiful at their age?

HitFix.com reckons the so-called public relations disaster could have been the victim of too many publicists in the first place, trying to make sure their client doesn’t look the oldest of the bunch.

Bloggers also took the opportunity to joke about the apparently ageless stars.

One user on the NY Daily News article said: “Good grief, I thought the Golden Girls got cancelled years ago?”

Another on the Huffington Post forum added: “Someone decided Kim needed to look infantile. She’s a beautiful 50+ year old woman, that’s a shame.”
