‘SATC 2′ Still Can’t Beat ‘Evita’ for Costume Change Record

WITH its 48 costume changes, you’d think the new Sex and the City 2, on screens from May 27, would claim the world record for the most number of costume changes in a movie. Unfortunately, Evita’s 85 costume changes still lays claim to the title.
Dressed in everything from Vivienne Westwood haute couture to a faded vintage Mickey Mouse tee, the sartorial roller coaster that is the SATC franchise is one of the reasons we keep coming back for more. Resident stylist Patricia Field cooked up almost 60 wardrobe changes for protagonist Carrie Bradshaw, only to see 12 of them cut from the final version. One outfit every three minutes? Who can complain?
Sarah Jessica Parker says there wasn’t enough reason for the additional wardrobe changes, although she wanted to try them all on. But she promised Access Hollywood plenty of sartorial goodness for viewers.
“My favourite is when Carrie runs into Aidan in the souk and I’m wearing an old vintage J’Adore Dior T-shirt and the underpinnings of a Zac Posen dress,” said Sarah. “Not the dress itself, but rather the petticoat and a pair of Manolos that were made for the movie.”
Can we have a piece of your fashion pie, Ms Bradshaw?
