YOU’VE probably heard the latest Obama story floating around the rumour mill: President Barack Obama and First Lady Michelle made cameos in Tag Team’s “Whoomp! (There It Is)” music video in 1993. But is it true?

The President is allegedly the sunglasses-wearing, mobile phone-chatting, domino-playing extra at about the 1:00 mark in the video below.

Gossip rag Gawker broke the news first over the weekend, reporting that several sites had noticed the same resemblance. The sites also make mention that a lady, dressed in a chic white sheath dress, looks and dances suspiciously like the First Lady at about 0:25 in the video.

Today, Tag Team themselves have spoken out about the mysterious Obama doppelganger—and revealed that it was in fact their friend, rapper LA Sno.

It is hard to deny the resemblance, but DC The Brain Supreme and Steve Roll’N of the Atlanta rap duo are “pretty sure” it’s not the American leader.

“We’ve been bombarded over the last 24 hours with [the question]. This is crazy, man. Nah, it’s not the President of the United States,” said DC.

“There was a thousand people at that video shoot. It was a real, serious party video shoot. A lot of people in Atlanta came out for that—Ed Lover from Yo! MTV Raps was in the video. Tony Mercedes was there. A whole bunch of people were in it, there were cameos, but I don’t remember a young Barack Obama there. I would have known!”

We’ll leave this one to the conspiracy theorists:
