FASHION designer and one-time reality TV star Nicole Richie has adopted—a kitten, that is, and given the furball its very own Italian villa.

The star announced the new addition to the family via her website, describing how the “sad and hungry” kitten showed up on her doorstep several times, urging her to take it in.

“One dark and lonely night, I heard a little puss puss cry from outside. At first I thought it was Joel,” joked Nicole.

The grey, striped alley cat, named Tabitha Jones Madden, is now receiving the royal treatment, with Nicole ordering the new kitty an “Italian villa” complete with a framed picture of herself inside the cat house.

The fashionista apparently ignored the cat at first, thinking it might belonged to someone else, but after several visits, Nicole decided to give it a new home.

“I fed her, and she was as happy as Benji Madden in a sorority house. It’s been 2 months now, so I think it’s safe to call her mine,” wrote Nicole on her blog.
