Runway Review: Erin Fetherston Fall 2010, New York

ERIN Fetherston’s fall 2010 “Chelsea Girl” collection was as you’d expect: flash, girlie and totally wearable right now.
Our top looks include a mid-thigh length coral strapless number with peek-a-boo lace bra, and a Sunkist orange chiffon dress with pin-tucked waist. But our favourite: a plunging georgette dress with mid-length sleeves and a print featuring adorable songbirds.
Similar looks were featured throughout the show, demonstrating a tried-and-true formula of floaty maxi dresses, pretty prints, billowy poet sleeves and mini skirts sans tights. Models sported heavy bangs and ironed locks and accessories were kept to a bare minimum.
Velvet has seen a revival at NYFW and it’s no different at Fetherston where velveteen blazers were paired with white maxi dresses. There were also metallics galore and the colour of choice seems to be classic bronze this season. Fetherston showcased no less than ten shimmering pieces.
The palette of washed out hues reminded us of those wonderfully faded photographs from our family albums, with sage greens, burnt oranges and candied lilacs.
