FOLLOWING on from George Clooney’s Hope for Haiti appeal, Jennifer Aniston has donated US$500,000 to Doctors Without Borders, Partners in Health and AmeriCares, according to E!.
Also lending their support are John Travolta and wife Kelly Preston, who flew their own jet to Haiti on Monday carrying four tons of relief supplies and a team including doctors and Scientology ministers.
The stars returned home after unloading their passengers and supplies, making this their second trip to Haiti in the past week.
Meanwhile, Lindsay Lohan wants to help us justify spending $65 on a sliver of shiny silver spandex. The star has announced that 100 per cent of the proceeds from the sales of her 6126 “Fame” leggings will go to Save the Children, one of the aid groups working with earthquake victims in Haiti.
Jessica Simpson has followed quickly, organising a ‘shoe drive’ with Shoes4Souls to collect 50,000 pairs of shoes in 50 days to be sent to the victims in the Caribbean island.
Last but certainly not least, Sean Penn is actually in Haiti doing his bit. The actor arrived on the scene on Thursday accompanied by 11 doctors and a U.S. businesswoman with whom he has established a private Haitian relief organisation.
The actor brought 1000 water filters that were ditributed to villages outside Port-au-Prince, and spent part of Friday meeting with aid groups and hospitals.
“The idea of us being here is to make sure the aid gets to them,” he said.
When asked by Fox News about the aftermath of the earthquakes, Penn said: “It’s horror.”
