WE thought George Clooney‘s Emmy days were over as soon as he finished up as Dr Doug Ross on ER, but it seems he will be awarded with the Bob Hope Humanitarian Award at this year’s awards.

George, who has worked on behalf of those affected by Hurricane Katrina and has raised the awareness about the atrocities in Darfur, will receive the award for his Hope for Haiti telethon on August 29.

Academy of Television Arts and Sciences chairman John Shaffner said George was “an obvious choice” for the honour because of his ability to use television to mobilise others.

Congratulations, George!
