THE gamine Emma Watson impressed us in her recent ad campaigns already, and really shone at this week’s Costume Institute Gala as a guest of designer Christopher Bailey.

What did she wear? This gorgeously simple, white, custom-made Burberry dress with a centre split down the skirt. Chris obviously wanted Emma to look grown-up but not too mature, and let her youthful beauty stand out with the playful details on the otherwise easy-to-wear gown.

Her brunette waves complimented her relaxed look, with black accessories tying it all together.

The Harry Potter actress is attending college in the US and spoke about the first time she walked into a frat party at Brown University in Providence.

“I felt like I’d walked into an American teen movie. I picked up the red cups. I was like, ‘Wow, they really do drink from these’,” she said in the latest issue of Vanity Fair.

At first, Emma didn’t think she would take to the Ivy League college but a few new friends and a Spanish boyfriend has made it all easier to cope with. In fact, while at Brown, she is brushing up on her acting skills by taking a drama class.

“I think actually I’m the worst person in the class!”
