BEGGERS can’t be choosers, they say, And apparently for jailbird Lindsay Lohan, there are no truer words spoken.

The actress—who is currently in a court-ordered rehabilitation program after serving a mere two weeks of her 90-day sentence in prison—is reportedly doing well. So well in fact, that mother Dina has revealed she befriended murderers while behind bars.

“She’s great,” said Dina. “She’s been through a lot. The judge played hardball. Lindsay was in with alleged murderers and she’s become friends with a lot of them.”

“Lindsay rolled with the punches and she’s doing wonderfully.”

Dina also revealed her 24-year-old daughter plans to leave Los Angeles for a change of scenery, most likely to New York after completing her time in rehab.

“California is a wonderful state but it’s a different game you play there, the court system is a little different,” said the mother of four to the Today show.

Dina has been repeatedly criticised by others—including ex-husband Michael Lohan—for enabling Lindsay’s behaviour, but the 47-year-old insists she has done her best by letting her daughter learn from her own mistakes.

“As a parent, you have to let her go a little bit. When she went out to Los Angeles when she was 19, I had to let her go and let her live and fall and fail and survive. Without failure, there’s no success,” she explained. “I was there in close proximity, but you can’t make your child not go out and go to a club and not get behind the wheel of a car. I certainly don’t condone any of that behaviour.”
