Dakota Fanning Gets Inked by Kat von D

DAKOTA Fanning was greeted with a surprise when she appeared on Lopez Tonight on Monday. Much to the delight of the 16-year-old, talk show host George Lopez brought out celebrity tattoo artist Kat von D to take her backstage for a “tattoo related gift”.
All was revealed when Dakota stepped back onstage to reveal a temporary pen drawing of a cherry bomb in honour of her work on The Runaways, the story of the all-girl teenage band of the same name that was led by Joan Jett and Cherie Currie.
Not only did Dakota’s age prevent her from getting anything permanent, it turns out she has a solid agreement with her mum.

The temporary tattoo.
“When I was like 11, she made me sign a contract and it says, ‘I will not ever get a tattoo’,” she told George.
“And there’s a little ‘X’ and a line and I had to sign my name.”
And because the ink will soon wash away, Kat made sure she got another gift to go along with it — a framed piece of original artwork that repeated the cherry bomb motif along with stylised lettering that reads “Dakota”. The young actress gasped when she was presented with the item — we’re willing to bet Mum’s not going to get upset over that one.
