Beyonce (unsurprisingly) set a new record at tonight’s Grammy Awards, becoming the most decorated female artist in Grammy history with six wins under her belt. She won Song of the Year for “Single Ladies (Put a Ring On It)” as well as the coveted Best Contemporary R&B Album award. Looks like Kanye was almost right.
Queen B also won Best Female Pop Vocal Performance, Best Female R&B Vocal performance, Best Traditional R&B Vocal Performance, and Best R&B Song.
But country-sensation Taylor Swift ousted Beyonce for top honours, winning Album of the Year for Fearless. She is the youngest artist to ever receive the award, at age 20.
The Black Eyed Peas and the Kings of Leon also won three Grammy’s each, the latter picking up the coveted Record of the Year for “Use Somebody”.

Lady Gaga and Elton John perform on stage.
Earlier in the evening, Lady Gaga and Elton John kicked off the spirited show with a spectacular duet featuring both singers performing facing each other at their pianos, wearing glittering rhinestone ensembles. They sang “Speechless/Your Song,” with Gaga peppering the performance with the lyrics “I love you, Sir Elton John,” and Elton crooning back “How wonderful life is with Gaga in the world.”

The Recording Academy did the expected and paid tribute to Michael Jackson, honouring the late singer with a Lifetime Achievement Award. During a special 3D performance to salute the King of Pop, Celine Dion, Jennifer Hudson, Smokey Robinson, Carrie Underwood and Usher sang his popular “Earth Song” before Jackson’s children accepted his award on his behalf.
