A 34-year-old British scientist has revealed that she is the author of the racy best-seller The Intimate Adventures of a London Call Girl under the pen name “Belle de Jour.”

Dr. Brooke Magnanti, who works for The Bristol Initiative for Research of Child Health, exposed her true identity amid fears a former boyfriend was about to blow her cover. Her memoirs were most recently adapted into a hit 16-episode TV series Secret Diary of a Call Girl starring Billie Piper. Her employers at the University of Bristol have defended her and have said her past does not have any relevance to her current role.
